Born on March 15, 1924 in D.C., he enlisted in the Army on March 27, 1943 at Ft. Meyer, Va. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried and had completed three years of high school. Nencioni joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo., initially as a member of Company L of the 86th Infantry Regiment before serving with Company I of the 85th Infantry Regiment.
